The recipient whose life was changed is John Hitchcock along with his wife Amber and their two young children Joshua and Matt. John served 5 years in the Navy including a deployment to Afghanistan.  Now enlisted in college he is pursuing a career as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to “make a difference in people’s lives from the lab.” The veteran services staffs at his school recommended him highly for consideration for this vehicle.  They describe him as a selfless individual who makes time for his classmates and whose listening ear is highly sought after among them. One staff member shared that she “has seen him take the bus 1.5 hours each way to tutor a fellow student so he wouldn’t fail.”
